Inspiration

Now that we are a family of four you can imagine that our new home has quickly started to burst at the seams. I so wish we had a fourth bedroom, but alas we do not so I have decided to make use of the space we have as efficiently as possible.

I have always wanted to have a home office, but we have never had the room. Somewhere off in blog land I came across the idea of a closet turned office. Do you know where the heck that is? I can never remember these things.

Back to the point. I have been doing some research on it and through Google search I found these images:

How great are these? So many ideas! I can't wait to get started, but I have to finish at least two other projects that I have already started first not to mention talk my hubs into helping.

I would like to take one of the closets in our master to turn into the office, but there is no way to downsize our clothes and shoes enough to do that so I have decided to go with our tiny coat closet. I think it will work fine because it is in a neutral location (entryway/living room) and we barely use it. We also don't have much that we would need to pair with the computer so I think it will work out perfectly.

So hopefully it will turn out looking as nice as this:

I have been wanting to try wallpaper somewhere in the house and I think this will be the perfect place to do it! I think I would want to go with something more like one of these great ones from Ballard Designs:

Or one of these from USA Wallpaper:

What do you think of the idea? Which wallpaper would you choose? Do you know of a better site for choosing wallpaper?

Can't wait to see what you come up with! I've wanted to do this for years ... we just moved to Germany and they don't have closets in their homes (they use stand-a-lone wardrobes). Looks like I'll have to wait until we move back to the sates. Have fun with the new project!

I like 5 and 7. Very different, I know, but there you have it.

Like Jaime, I'm in Europe (well, Moscow . . . I don't really consider Russia Europe. It's just . . . Russia.). We don't have closets here either. Had to buy wardrobes from IKEA. Although we DO have a very small room that we use as a big walk-in closet. During communist times, I am told that our 5 room apartment (not counting kitchen/bath) had a "family" in each room. That tiny room we use as a closet was "The Lieutenant's Room." We still call it that.

Hapyy SITS Saturday Sharefest! This is the first time I am participating and I was thrilled when I saw your post about turning a closet into a home office. Love all of those your featured! About 99% of my posts are centered on something related to the style of our homes.

I was scrolling through your blog and really like the new curtain panels you chose. They really brighten up the room and give it a new look.

Have a great weekend. I'm glad I discovered your blog, I'll be back!

Hi Jessica! I actually did a post that included one of these closet offices, but I'm not sure if that's where you saw it or not. It's been on several blogs i'm sure. I haven't seen most of these images in this post, so it was fun to see even more creative office closets! They'are awesome! I really like your taste and I can't wait to see what you do. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
